Are you a Truth Seeker?
It’s easier to persuade ourselves that we are ardent seekers of truth than to genuinely discern what truth truly entails. In reality, we are all shaped by biases to varying degrees, each perceiving the world through unique lenses. The cliché “walk a mile in another’s shoes” may sound straightforward, yet only those truly devoted to truth dare venture into the shadowed uncertainty of suspending their own convictions to inhabit another’s experience without judgment. Consequently, it’s far easier to critique others than to scrutinize oneself. Directing others’ actions comes more naturally than self-reflection. This dynamic underlies much of the harm inflicted by religious institutions.
